Tambor Tropical has developed many programs enriching our commitment to people, place and planet. Sustainability begins with investing in the local community. A healthy, vibrant coastal community is a key priority.

Tambor Tropical provides local people with meaningful year-round employment.
With the aid of Tambor Tropical, The Tambor Bay School was constructed and is financed, providing local youth with an enriching education. Volunteer opportunities are available to resort guests.
Tambor Tropical has been awarded by the Costa Rican Tourism Board's (ICT's) the Certificate of Sustainable Tourism (CST) based on achievements including:
- A holistic recycling program, one of the few in the region.
- Regular beach cleanups with staff, students and local residents.
- The use of solar energy to dry all laundry.
- The use of environmentally friendly cleaning agents and soaps used in the rooms and housekeeping services.
- Water and energy management.
- Encouraging our guests to interact with the local culture and cuisine.
- Inviting our guests to visit and learn about Costa Rica's protected areas.
For more then 15-years, Tambor Tropical has given presents to more than 250 children of the villages of Tambor, Muelle, and Pánica on Christmas Day. Please contact us if you wish to participate in this event that shows our gratitude to our local communities.
